Vicki J. Smith's Obituary
On Monday, March 1, 2021 at 8:15pm, Vicki Jean Smith, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away at the age of 79 in her home surrounded by family. Vicki was born on August 21, 1941 in Caruthersville, MO to George and L. Jean Stanley. She married her husband, Douglas Lee Smith, on February 21, 1962 and spent 59 loving years together. They raised and loved four children, Derrick, Gavin, Sabrena, and Hunter. She worked as an operational support technician for the Houston FBI for 29 years, retiring in 2016. Vicki had such a passion for life, and loved deeply and unconditionally. She spent her time caring for family and friends, writing poems, playing the piano, painting rocks and Christmas ornaments, taking pictures of loved ones, and so much more. As a child, Vicki was known to read the dictionary for her enjoyment, which helped her in her journey to become known as the Scrabble Queen amongst her friends and family. Throughout Vicki’s life, she inspired more people than she could have imagined through her actions, words, and writings. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, George; mother, L. Jean; sister, Sandy; brother, George Timmy; and other loved ones. She is survived by her husband, Douglas; three sons, Derrick (Yvonne), Gavin (Carolyn), Hunter (Teri); one daughter Sabrena (Kent); seven grandchildren, Valerie (Vince), Brandon, Meagan (Andrew), Lauren, Kameron, Garrett, and Blake; three great-grandchildren Dakota, Adrienne, and Avery, as well as several nieces and nephews
