Mr. Sherrel Joseph Rabalais' Obituary
Sherrel Joseph Rabalais, 74, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 12:00pm in his home surrounded by his loving daughters in Houston, Texas after a battle with cancer.
Sherrel was born December 6, 1941, in Plaucheville, Louisiana to Pierce and Delta Rabalais. After graduating from Plaucheville High School in 1959, he enlisted in the United States Army in January 1960. During his tour of duty he served as an Auto Fuel System Repairman and traveled to many places including Lybia. He was a Decorated Expert M-1 Rifleman and received an Honorable Discharge as an E-4.
Sherrel met his beautiful bride, Elsie Jean, and they were married on December 14, 1963. After they were married, they moved to Port Arthur, Texas and eventually settled in Houston, Texas in 1967. There he worked over 50 years in the construction business, he finished his career as a Senior Inspector at Tepsco. He was a very devoted and loving husband and father. He made sure all his girls and beautiful wife never wanted for anything, providing them everything they needed. His interests were fishing and bird watching but, he devoted his time and energy to loving and supporting all his girls and grandchildren, especially his beautiful bride.
Survivors include his four daughters: Connie and Don McGee of Sugarland, Texas, Tina and Ron Grant of Cypress, Texas, Tammy and Steve Sellers of Kingwood, Texas, and Amanda and Michael Ferguson of Richmond, Texas; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Patricia and John Tucker of Hessmer, Louisiana, Sandra and Evans Dubroc of Plaucheville, Louisiana, Pamela Landry of Moreauville, Louisiana; one brother, Andrew and Nikki Rabalais of Dupont, Louisiana; along with many close family and friends.
Sherrel is predeceased by his wife Elsie Jean Rabalais, May 22, 2015.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 9, 2016 at 1:00pm. Both visitation and funeral services will be held in the Chapel of San Jacinto Memorial Park and Funeral Home,14659 East Freeway, Houston, Texas 77015.
