I remember Ruth well when her house backed up to the Hammer's on Mercury Drive Drive in Houston. She must have thought those Hammer kids were numerous and wild childs; little did she know then that she would join the Hammer family some years in the future. I remember playing hide and seek in her front yard back in the mid 70s. T have always respected Ruth for the way that she immediately fit right into the the Hammer clan. I got to meet Ruth's elder son that graduated with Nancy from Furr High School in 1971. Nancy introduced me to him at the Furr HS 10 year reunion. Ruth had very interesting stories about her work I believe near Channelview. She had incredible organization skills, and a sharp memory that never forgot the details. She was truly the quinessential mother of the 50, 60 and 70 when the role of the woman, wife and mother was changing and Ruth was right there changing with it. But to me she will always live on in the lives of the children she raised and the many many people she touched by her kind heart. Regards, Jim Sherrard
