Robert Alton Wood's Obituary
Robert Alton Wood, 84, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Kingwood Hospital, following a month-long hospital stay from injuries received from a recent fall.
He was born on June 5, 1940, in Rathbone, New York, the son of the late Eldred and Mary Wood. His family moved to Deer Park, Texas the summer before his senior year. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1959.
Robert's adventurous spirit led him to find joy in the great outdoors, where he often spent time hunting and fishing. His many trips to Colorado for deer and elk hunting were a testament to his love for nature. He used to enjoy spending time at their home near Garner State Park, but above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann Wood, his parents, Eldred and Mary Wood, and his brother, Erwin Wood. He is survived by his children, Darrell Wood of Kenefick, Texas, Tammy Kiper (Scotty) of Porter, Texas, Debbie Wood (Wesley) of Kingwood, Texas; his siblings, Juanita Cook and John Wood; his grandchildren, Leslie Wood (A.J.), Jeremy Kiper (Kindell), Lindsay Wood (Jonathan), Sarah Spencer, Katie Kiper, and Erin Spencer; and his great-granddaughter, Whitley Kiper. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped care for him during his recent hospital stays in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Kingwood, Texas.
