Mr. Raymond Earl Roderick's Obituary
Raymond Roderick, a naturally gifted hairstylist, an artist and an avid world traveler, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15th 2010. He was 47 years old. Raymond, surrounded by his loving family, slipped away as he squeezed their hands still showing the passion that was part of his everyday life. Raymond knew that he was going to be a hairstylist from a young age and started his training upon graduation from C.E. King High School in 1980. After completing his formal training he began his career working under Robert Sylvester at Charmelle then moving to Entre Nous when the salon opened. He worked at various other locations around the city, including Gallery of Salons and opened his own salon, Raymond's, before moving to The Upper Hand where he worked the past two years. Raymond was passionate about his family, his friends, his clients, food and travels which he regarded important in his life. For many years he would travel to Paris to purchase products that were not available in the United States, just because it was a superior product to use on his beloved clients. Each day, Raymond looked forward to spending time with each of his clients because they were his friends as well. His friends meant the world to Raymond. His routine of dinners were often the meeting place to enjoy his friendships. It was his family that was closest to his heart. Every time he walked into the house, he would loving sing "Where are my Little Angels?" looking for his great nieces and nephew, Paige, Kyle and Kate. They would come running for their special hug. As we all know hugs from Raymond were special, and often seem to last a lifetime. Raymond was a special person, who many people loved. When falling ill with Lymphoma, it was only natural for his friends, colleagues and clients to orchestrate a fund raiser and establish a benevolent fund to ensure he was minimally impacted. His heart was touch at the generosity when two separate endowments were established. Raymond is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Roderick and survived by father Earl Roderick; sisters Margie Roderick, and Robbie Valt, her husband Patrick. He is also survived by his beloved niece and nephews Stephanie Valt, Patrick Valt, Jr wife Kim, Phillip Valt, Richard Valt, and his Little Angels, great nieces and nephew Paige, Kate and Kyle Valt.
