I hired into USI as a young very inexperienced operator with no prior experience in 1984.
In the 34 years that I have been with the Company and still am to this day I can honestly say Ray by far was the best Supervisor I have ever had. I have never laughed so hard about some of the stories he told and still share those hilarious stories with the guys I work with. The best, on Christmas eve he took a Pea salad that his wife had prepared out to the car and get it warm for her and his 2 daughters. This was no ordinary car, it was the famous Lincoln if I'm not mistaken that had given him a lot of grief. In the garage ray tried and tried to start the beast but she was a no go, so after awhile it cranked so he decided he would floor board the throttle for awhile and get back at it for being stubborn. While the gas pedal was floor boarded he put the car in reverse and out she went squealing the tires all the way to the street. He pulled back in the driveway, his wife comes running out and screaming at him what was he doing and thinking. You can imagine where the Pea salad was.......all over the car. What a Christmas Eve it was. Ray rest in peace. You were and still are a great example for me.
