Maria De Jesus Hernandez Cantu's Obituary
Maria de Jesus Hernandez Cantu, of Galena Park, TX was born on June 3, 1926 in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and entered into rest on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Maria was the youngest of six children born to parents Ramona Salinas and Jesus Cantu.
On December 29, 1945, she was married to Juan Hernandez in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon. Maria then dedicated her life as a housewife and her proudest accomplishment in raising her children. She was devoted to God and was a member of Lakewood Church and Iglesia del Pueblo.
Maria will be remembered for being feisty, opinionated, strong-willed, and caring. In her spare time, Maria loved playing Friday bingo, raffling items, listening to music by Vicente Fernandez, going out with her family to Los Ramones, visiting the gardens, and out to celebrate the Astros with her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Hernandez Ibarra; sons, Marcos Aurelio Hernandez, Jesus Adrian Hernandez, Juan Antonio Hernandez; daughters, Irma Neli Zamora and Nancy Teresita Hernandez; parents, Jesus Cantu and Ramona Salinas; siblings, Librado Cantu, Maria Nieves Cuellar, Guadalupe Balderas, Zacarias Cantu, and Ramona Bulnes; and grandchildren, Jasmin Cuellar and Roberto Carlos Gonzales.
Maria is survived by her children, Rigoberto Hernandez, Mirna Aurelia Cuellar-Hulin, Evelio Hernandez; special friends, Ethel Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Salome Enriquez, Vicki Vasques, Mr. and Mrs. Guadalupe Gonzales, among other friends; nieces and nephews, daughters-in-law, her son-in-law, 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandkids.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at San Jacinto Funeral Home from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 10:00am to 12:00pm, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00pm at San Jacinto Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
