If there is one thing I can say my grandmother gave me, it was love and wisdom. Every time I visited Texas, I made it a point to see her. I once asked her for a Bible, and she not only gave me a few pamphlets but also her personal Bible, which I still treasure today. The words within have shaped my life in countless ways.
During a time when I felt alone and sorrowful, I turned to these cherished books. They spoke of family and stepfamily, and emphasized that sometimes it falls upon us, the children, to take the first step in changing our lives and the lives of those around us. Inspired by her guidance, I began to reach out to family members I had once felt distant from. Slowly but surely, I grew closer to the family I had longed to connect with.
Her simple gesture, though miles away, profoundly changed my life. She taught me that even when things are not our fault, we can still be the bigger person and positively shape the course of our lives.
Grandma, you will be deeply missed. Rest peacefully, knowing the love and wisdom you shared continue to guide me.
