He was a loving father, husband and friend. He never met a stranger and was loved by all that was fortunate enough to meet him. He retired from the Navy in 1970 and moved his family to Washington State and partnered with his father and mother and farmed for the next 10 years. He then moved to Texas and worked in the Oilfield Profession for the next 10 years at that time he decided to retire, but like he always said the only downfall of retiring is you never get a day off. So then he decided to buy a bar and he partnered with his best friend John Territo and Robert Knistley and opened Roddy's Tavern. It wasn't long before he knew this was real work and sold his share to John Territo. He loved camping and fishing so that filled a lot of his days. He loved to travel to Chicago to visit his daughters and grandchildren and travel to Washington to visit his brothers and nephews. One of his favorite things was watching his grandchildren play in sports. He tried to never miss one of Kristopher's baseball games or Julie's soccer games. When he was lucky enough to be in Chicago he watched Timothy in baseball and Amanda in basketball. He loved sports especially when his grandchildren were involved.
