Mrs. Irene A. Gray's Obituary
Irene Gray, age 90, left her earthly body on August 13, 2009, and is presently face to face with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A long time resident of Houston, she was born in Galveston, Texas, on February 20, 1919 and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Gray. Irene's childhood during the depression instilled mighty character and integrity in her soul, making her a superior leader in her family and her community. She will be remembered for her fun loving spirit, inventiveness, passion for gardening, fishing, camping, and her love of family and friends. A note she received from one of her grandchildren sums up how her friends and family felt about her, "Thank you for being such a powerful influence in my life. You will never know how much I admire you for your resourcefulness, your strength, your sense of humor, and all of your talent. I have never known a woman like you and I never will again, but I thank God for letting me have you in my life." Irene will be missed, but only for a while, as those who know her Savior will meet her again in heaven. Survivors include her three children, Marilyn Wells (Mike), Carolyn Pool (Dee), and Tommy Thacker (Sarah); and children by marriage, David Gray (Darlene), Tad Gray (Debbie), and Linda Boderek (Tony). She also leaves behind three generations of grandchildren totaling 27 (three deceased). The family wishes to thank the following: Houston Hospice; Shreda Paire', NP, University of Texas Palliative Care; Dr. J. Pat Herlihy and Dr. Ronald Ralph; and the Pharmaceutical Staff at Sam's Club - East Freeway. The family extends special thanks to her dedicated caregiver Mae Ardoin. Contributions, if desired, may be made to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 15, at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home, 14659 East Freeway, Houston, TX 77015. Pastor Robert L. Dean is officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 14. Pallbearers are Michael Sinclair, Todd Pool, Michael Pool, Seth Lester, Ken Pujats, and Ken Kerley.
