Mr. Herman W. Hilton Sr.'s Obituary
Herman W. Hilton, Sr. born in Onalaska, TX on April 24, 1923 died at home in Galena Park, TX on October 27, 2017. He was a WW II veteran serving in the US Army Air Corps as a gunnery instructor on B-17s. He retired from Center Point Energy (then Entex) after 42 years of service with the company.
He is well known and beloved for his service to his community and church. He served as President of the Galena Park Chamber of Commerce, he held numerous leadership positions with Boy Scout organizations in Galena Park, and served as Deacon and Treasurer of Second Baptist Church in Galena Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Loraine Hilton, his beloved wife of 56 years; and 2 half-brothers, Jesse Sheffield and Warren Sheffield. He is survived by his sister Pauline Whiddon; 2 half sisters, Jean Pitre and Linda Moorehead; 3 sons, Joe (Pat) Hilton, Warren (Sheila) Hilton, Randy Hilton; 7 grandchildren, John (Beth) Hilton, Marlo Hilton, James Hilton, Elizabeth Hilton, Brian Hilton, Anthony Guinn, and Christopher Hilton; 13 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are being provided by San Jacinto Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, Oct 31, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation on Wednesday, Nov 1, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, with funeral services following immediately, interment in the Memorial Park will follow after the service.
