Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers today.
I was away from church for many years. When I started back, it was in Second Baptist. I remember sitting right behind Herman for many years. He was a very good man and from what I was told, he was the last surviving member of the starting of the church. Mr. Hilton was there through all the changes the church went through. He was one tough cookie. I always enjoyed seeing him and valued his opinion. He kept the church together , even when it got so small that there was talk of letting it go. He helped bring the membership back up and was always there if you needed someone to talk to and listen. God has received a very good angel an I pray I get to see him again. May God bless his family and all the many friends he made through the years. R.I.P. Mr. Hilton.
Mr Hilton was the rock of Second Baptist Church, we move there in GP in 1962 and he was a faithful man of God. He will be truly missed. May God Bless his family always. We loved you. Shirley & Bill Lambert.
I have always had so much respect for Mr. Hilton, I find it difficult to call him Herman. I was fortunate to have a visit with him a week ago, and his smile has not changed since I was a teenager. He was a Deacon and The Rock for our Church. The Church went through many changes through the years, but Mr. Hilton was always there to help us young folk to adapt and survive these changes. He taught us how to remain calm in times of turmoil, and how to think things through. Will have fond memories of Mr. Hilton forever. It was an unusual relationship because Randy and I were good friends for many years. God Bless you Mr. Hilton!
