Angela Finney
The last baton from Parent to Children for Smith Siblings Era.....
It all started with 3 siblings; Harold, Douglas and Cecil
Who spawned 13 offspring, and raised us with great zeal!
All Our Beloved Parents are reunited in Our Heavenly Home,
We are grateful for their Love that nurtured us to full grown
Douglas owned Happiness Hair Fashions, for more than 30 years,
Recruiting many family member’s to help him with scissors & shears
His very loyal customers, gave him success and much happiness;
While chatting, cutting, blow-drying, & perming; all with great finesse
Family time and gatherings were very important to him
We all came together with great food and a little mayhem
He’s known for his fabulous down home cooking; all was made from scratch
Cornbread Dressing, Stuffed Bell Peppers, Dirty rice – his food was hard to match
Warm bread pudding & homemade buttermilk biscuits;
you can taste them now......
Topped with SOS gravy and your mouth would say “oh wow”!
All of us kids will continue to make these famous family staples,
And pass them down as legendary recipes to adorn our children’s tables
Lovingly devoted to his family and lifelong community
He never left his beloved hometown of friendly Jacinto City
Straight up Houston Oilers fan, chanting Love ya Blue
Football games were quite intense and he loved Bum Phillips too
Good ole Western shows and movies made his world go round
The simple life of a rugged cowboy parading around the town
Douglas loves his wife and children with every bit of his heart
Proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren; as a work of art
A simple man who valued family and a good conversation
He lives in our hearts forever and will be remembered for generations
May the Peace of God reside in your hearts and minds now and forevermore! Amen
RIP Uncle Doug – We Love You – All your Nieces and Nephews
