He was born on January 20, 1942, to Bernardo Contreras and Adelina Garibay in Houston, Texas.
Bernard married Dolores Contreras on January 1, 1966, in Houston, Texas.
He worked as a computer software security at NASA.
Bernard proudly served in the United States Army as an E4, SP4 from September 28, 1962-September 29, 1965.
He is survived by his wife Dolores (Dollie) Contreras, daughter Denise Oakeley of Aurora Colorado, his son and daughter-in-law Ron and Sylvia Contreras of Houston, Texas; sister Diane Contreras Rodriguez; brothers, Roland Contreras, Robert Contreras (previously departed), Richard Contreras, and Michael Contreras; he is further survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Cox, Andrew Contreras, Alyssa Contreras, Liliana Oakeley and Joseph Bernard Oakeley.
