Maurice was the most human person you could have met. She was caring, empathic, always professional, and loved her family. I shared at least 27 years of joy in knowing her. I was encouraged by her to get my CCS certification. She made sure that I accomplished that with her help.
I am sorry for your lost and my lost. I did not want to write this tribute but Marice has stayed on my mind.

Dear Ms. Ivey,
I am deeply saddened to learn that you passed away two months ago. I was even planning on paying you a visit this fall 2022 at Lee College and to see how you are doing, but I cannot anymore because you are gone. My heart is broken and will grieve for many years. All of the ones I love, respect and admire are leaving me behind and you are one of them. You listened to me carefully and never judged me when I shared my life story about being born in the Philippines, immigrating to Houston with my parents and siblings, to pursuing a degree in HIM and then masters in social work at UH. You have made a positive impact in my life and you have always encouraged me to pursue higher education and to keep going. I remember how you were so proud to introduce me to your students in Health Information Technology class as I was proud to call you my teacher, my professor, abs a friend. I’m going to miss you terribly Ms. Ivey and I will never forget about you. Rest peacefully in Heaven. And hopefully, one day, we will see again.

Marice and I met at Ben Franklin's over 50 years ago. Time passes but we always remained friends. I loved her, she was one of a kind. My heart goes out to her family who she loved . much. Your loss is great, but heaven got one of the best. May the Lord be with you all
We have known Marice for many years through her sister, JoAnna.
She was always so sweet, caring, and generous.
Remembering her sense of humor and fun-loving spirit brings back wonderful
memories.
It was an honor knowing her and she will surely be missed.

Marice and I went to high school together and have many great memories. We were best of friends and enjoyed sharing class notes and became study partners for test. I remember her family always being supportive and accommodating for after school study days.
Over the years we lost contact but Marice reached out through our high school Facebook page and we reconnected! (That was a great day for me!)
I miss Marice and send my deepest sympathy to her sweet family.
