Ronny Carney
William Houston Carney, Jr.
Born in Mississippi, talk about a country boy. Surrounded by poverty, he was plowing a field at the age of 6. From daylight to dark. Rejected by his father, and family. Treated like an actual animal. Let me tell you a little bit about him. Uneducated and unschooled, illiterate until the age of 30 when he taught himself how to read. This man and when I say man I mean man, fought the elements of this world and conquered it, becoming a master craftsman at his trade. Worked from daylight to dark. Raised four kids by himself and provided the financial means for those four kids and not one of them was involved in any drugs, alcohol or in trouble with the law. He was a man alright, he fought the elements of this world and won. I'm proud of this man whose shoes I never could fill. This country don't put out men like this anymore, for these type of men are fading away. This man never came to any of my ball games and alot of things this man told me, I felt like it wasn't what I wanted to hear, but one thing my dad did tell me, it stuck with me even today, he told me about God. And I don't mean some religious fiesta. And as I grew and searched the only thing I had to give back to my dad, was more information about the God that he taught me about when I was a child. It's hard to believe that a man like this ,condemned by the world and rejected by society could leave a legacy that still lives on. But I often wondered how my father made it, and I finally recieved the answer. This man wanted to make a difference in the world and he finally did. In his own unique ways and understanding, he left us......love. For love is an action word and this man was full of the elements. I, Ronny Carney, testify to the fact. He fought the fight, and he won. I love my daddy and I will see him at resurrection day. I have spoken so therefore, so-be-it. Amen.
