Wayne lived down the street from my father in Conroe. In 2007, my father had a stroke and spent considerable time in the hospital. During this time, I would go check on my father's 5-acre property. More often than not, I would find that it had been freshly mowed, but nobody could tell me who was doing it. Finally, I met Shorty and found out that he had heard about my father's illness and figured we needed some help taking care of the property. I didn't know Wayne as well as his close friends and family, but it was apparent from the beginning that he was a man who stepped in to do the right thing in every situation, whether he received acknowledgement or not. After my father passed, I continued to visit the property with my kids and Wayne would occasionally check in to make sure we were ok. He was a kind, gentle soul and will be missed tremendously.
