Virginia Evelyn Paulus' Obituary
Virginia Evelyn Welch Paulus was born March 1, 1929 to Virgie and Roy W. Welch Sr. in Canton, MS. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1934. She graduated from Galena Park High School in 1948, then went to work as a bookkeeper for Stowers Department Store. Later, she began working for Houston Contracting until the company closed in 1980. Afterwards, she then worked for the law firm of Mayor, Day, Caldwell, and Keeton until retirement in May, 1994. Virginia past from this earth on December 24, 2013 after a short illness. She married Fred Paulus on March 22, 1966. They loved to travel together with friends. Virginia was preceded in death by Fred in December, 1977. She continued to travel, even visiting family living outside of the United States. She is survived by her older sister Mary Dunham of Rosenberg, TX and younger brother Roy W. Welch, Jr. of Anchorage, AK. She loved her nephews and nieces and is survived by nephews Chuck Dunham and spouse Lynn of the Woodlands, TX; John Dunham and spouse Terri of Richmond, TX; David Dunham and spouse Pam of Rosenberg, TX; and Bill Welch and spouse Dori of Anchorage, AK. Nieces surviving her are Mary Slokar of Houston, TX and Karen Smith and spouse Rusty of Marlow, OK. Multiple great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
