I am so lucky to have been able to call Vera my grandmother. She was such an amazing person. We've always lived far apart but that never stopped her from making it known that I was in her heart; she never failed to let me know that she was thinking of my girls and me. And I will always remember a conversation I had with her when I was faced with a dilemma last year. Her advice was simple, but exactly what I needed, she had said: Do what makes you happy. Life is too short not to do what makes you happy.
Her advice was so heartfelt and honest because she deeply, truly cared about other people's happiness—that was the kind of loving person she was, a beautiful person whom I will always remember.
