Mrs. Valentena "Violet" Malcha Mest Smith's Obituary
Valentena "Violet" Malcha Mest Smith, 89, was born in Tehran, Persia on March 7, 1929 to parents Jacob and Rufa Mest and entered into rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2018
Violet will be incredibly missed by her family and those that knew her. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and her exceptional cooking skills as well as how crazy she was about fishing, which her sons note was to the point of insanity. She also enjoyed gardening and proved to have green thumb, "if she would plant a rock, it would grow into a boulder."
Violet is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Rufa Mest; husband, Samuel Thomas Smith; daughter, Valerie Gail Smith; sister, Bety (Batia) Mest.
She is survived by her children, Samuel Thomas Smith Jr., Jacob Bruce Smith, William David Smith; grandchildren, Sonya Smith Hohlt, Jacob Brent Smith, Jennifer Smith, Abigail Smith Reed, Amanda Smith, Scotty Smith, Cory Smith; and her 12 great-grandchildren.
Private services have been entrusted to San Jacinto Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the Smith family requests that a donation be made in Violet's memory to the Texas Children's Hospital or to Children's Craniofacial Association.
