Dear Terry and Gary,
I'm hoping you remember our family (Prentice, Greg, Larry, and Kim) who lived down the street from you for many years. A friend sent me a copy of your mother's obituary so I wanted you to know I remember her as a very lovely, quiet, and charming woman. I thought of her and your family as great neighbors. You and your families have my deepest sympathy in the loss of a wonderful woman.
Dear Terry, I don't know if you'll remember me, but we were good friends in elementary school and when I saw your mother's obituary in the paper, I wanted to express to you the positive impact she had on my childhood. My maiden name is Jan Humphrey and I lived on 10th street. I always enjoyed going to your house because you were such fun, but also because your mother was so sweet and always laughing and welcoming. I will never forget the going away party she hosted for me when my family moved to Pasadena. She was so kind to do that for me.
