Thelma Elizabeth Brown's Obituary
Thelma Elizabeth Brown, 94, passed away on January 10, 2014 in Houston, TX. She was born on October 29, 1919 in Broaddus, TX. Mother graduated 1937 from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. She met Glyn Brown after her graduation and they were married on November 25, 1939. They were happily married until his death on April 28, 2000. They moved to Galena Park in October of 1942. She was well known throughout the Galena Park community and schools as a willing volunteer whether it was cupcakes as room mother or Girl Scout Leader, she was always there. She was an outstanding homemaker with sewing, cooking, and hosting slumber parties for me and my sister, Glenda for many years. She was well known for her Seven Minute Icing, Red Velvet Cake, and Coconut Cake. No Thanksgiving was complete without her oyster dressing. She did ceramics and took a cake decorating class with her Galena Park City Hall co-workers. The result was many years of graduation cakes with statutes, and birthday cakes for all her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. I have many memories of vacations every summer to Garner State Park, Disneyland, and camping trips to numerous locations. She was very family-oriented with many reunions, and celebrations for all occasions. She and Daddy even took trips to Hawaii and Alaska with Aunt Juanita and Uncle Manning, compliments of my brother, Dr. Michael G. Brown. I remember Mother and Daddy as the salt of the earth, hard-working, and very disciplined with unconditional love. You will be missed by many. I was blessed the most wonderful, loving Mother in the World. I thank God for your peace in Heaven with Daddy, Glenda, Jackie, Dorinda, and Michael now. Your Loving Daughter,
Jeanne
