Mr. Ted Jerry Cashion Jr.'s Obituary
T. Jerry Cashion, Jr., 57, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011 following an extended illness. Jerry was a long time and very well known funeral director in Houston. He was a graduate of North Shore High School of Houston where he was the Class President throughout his high school years. Upon graduation from high school he attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from Commonwealth College of Funeral Service here in Houston. In his over 30 year career he worked with several leading funeral homes in Houston both with Stewart Enterprises and Service Corp. International having started his funeral service career with Brookside Funeral Home in the early 1980's. Jerry was a consummate "sports nut" and loved the outdoors. It would be an understatement to say that Jerry was an unforgettable soul. Aside from the respect he earned from his peers, he was known for his kindness to others, keen sense of humor and deep desire to assist families when tragedy visited them. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Clintine Cashion in 1988. He is survived by his dad, Ted Jerry Cashion, Sr.; children Kristina Louise Cashion-Cunningham, Ted Jerry Cashion, III, Patrick Riley Cashion, and Sara Clintine Cashion; his brother Patrick Aaron Cashion; sisters Terry Kaye Cashion and Kelly Clintine Cashion; nieces Erin Alison Murphy and family, Victoria Willow Ortiz, Richard Lane Ortiz, Carley Cashion Murphy and family, Aaron Mack McKinley; his nephew Clinton David Murphy; his long time friend and partner Penny Milheim and a host of extended family and friends throughout the city. The family will receive friends at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home, 14659 East Freeway at Beltway 8, on Wednesday evening, August 17, 2011 from 5:00 until 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to Cindy Stark and Richard Fuentez for the love and care extended to Jerry and his family throughout his illness.
