Sylvia Diva Rodriguez, aged 85, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2024, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 19, 1939, in Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Consuelo Toro, Sylvia’s early years were spent in Donna, Texas, where she grew up surrounded by family.
A devout Catholic, Sylvia was a cherished member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through joyous and challenging times alike. Sylvia’s love for the Houston Astros was well-known, and she rarely missed a game. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing Loteria, buying scratch-off tickets, and solving puzzles on her iPad.
Sylvia’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of family gatherings.
Preceded in death by her mother, Consuelo Toro, her beloved husband, Rafael Tapia Rodriguez, and her brother, Agustin Sandoval, Sylvia leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her children, Consuelo, Leticia, Lucy, Patty, Silvia, Raul, and Jesse numerous grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Sylvia’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, Sylvia. You will be forever missed and always remembered.
