It is with great sorrow that the family of Sherrell Ann Seamans announces her passing on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in Houston, Texas at the age of 78. Ann was born on October 6, 1943 in Mobile, Alabama to Earl Jackson and Betty Lucille (Gardner) Seamans. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Kelsey Roy and wife Bonnie Faye (Goff) Seamans, brother Frederick Leon and wife Barbara Jean (Knight) Seamans, niece Karen Ann Seamans, and brother-in-law John Ray Pander.
She is survived by brother Larry Gardner Seamans, sister Linda Rae Pander, niece Barbara Kay (Seamans) Mitchum, nephew Earl Jackson Seamans II and partner Steven Michael Swofford, nephew David Wayne Seamans, niece Kimberly Ann (Seamans) Riess, niece Carolea Ann (Seamans) and husband Bruce Trusler, nephew Frederick Leon Seamans, Jr., nephew Shawn Phillip and wife Dorothy Elizabeth (Bellanti) Pander, nephew Patrick Stephen Pander, niece Jonna Bette Pander, sister-in-law Patsy Ann (East) Hardin, numerous great-nieces and nephews, and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Ann had a fiercely independent spirit and went out to face the world at a young age after graduating from San Jacinto High School. She was smart, amiable, and possessed the ability to adapt to life rather quickly. Ann held a variety of interesting jobs throughout her life including hospital administration, apartment manager, funeral home secretary, pharmacy clerk, Houston Sentinel reporter, and was working in the bookstore at San Jacinto College when she passed.
Ann had a wide variety of interests including spending time with family and friends, comforting loved ones when they were troubled or ill, performing skits with her nieces and nephews, working the daily crossword puzzle (especially the Sunday crossword), reading, classic movies, listening to Johnny Mathis, Nancy Wilson, and Barbra Streisand albums, and keeping up with politics and current events.
Ann’s greatest loves were her faith, family, and writing. She was a devout Christian and stated many times that her love of the Lord sustained her through the trials and tribulations she faced during her lifetime. She was a longtime member of Inspire Church Houston and beloved by her church family. Ann was also a prolific writer and penned many short stories and poems over the course of her life.
Ann was a brave soul who stood up to threatening health issues throughout her life all while managing to remain cheerful in the face of it all. Ann fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. We take great comfort in knowing that Ann is with her Lord and Savior and all of her family members and friends who have gone on before her.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held for family and friends on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the San Jacinto Funeral Home located at 14659 East Freeway, Houston, TX 77015. Visitation that day will be from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., funeral services from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., and interment at 2:30 p.m. at the San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery located just behind the San Jacinto Funeral Home.
