Sandra was born on March 19, 1946, in Orange, Texas, to the proud parents Earl Horn and Vera Frank. She was a loving and caring sister, surviving her is her sister Glenda Marlene Schoubroek. Sandra's early life was marked by a strong sense of duty and patriotism, which led her to join the United States Army in January 1976, where she served with distinction as a communication specialist.
On September 28, 1984, Sandra entered a beautiful union of love and companionship, marrying Herbert Smyth in Liberty, Texas. Their marriage was a testament to the enduring power of love, and together they shared countless precious moments.
Sandra's life was a tapestry woven with threads of courage, service, and adventure. Her heart led her to become a Forest Ranger, a role in which she safeguarded and nurtured the natural world she held so dear. Her dedication knew no bounds, as she also selflessly volunteered as a firefighter, placing herself in harm's way to protect her community. Her exceptional marksmanship skills exemplified her precision and determination, making her a true force to be reckoned with.
Sandra was not only a pillar of strength in her professional life but also a devoted member of Uvalde Baptist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her character, guiding her actions and inspiring her to be a beacon of kindness and compassion to all those around her.
Beyond her extraordinary achievements, Sandra was a woman of simple joys and hobbies.
