Ms. Ruth Lorfing's Obituary
Ruth I. Lorfing
Ruth Irene Lorfing, age 75, peacefully passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Waco at Providence Hospital. She was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and loved good country gospel music. Mrs. Lorfing lived in Channelview for most of her life, but she was born in El Campo, Texas to Louis and Kate Hill. She married Marvin H. Lorfing when she was a senior in high school and that love affair lasted until his death in 1974. A few years later, she married George W. Morrow and was married to him for 9 years. In spite of a divorce, she and George remained friends and companions until his death. Mrs. Lorfing drove a school bus for Channelview I.S.D. for 15 years and had many fond memories about driving the kids to football games and special events. She loved her home in Channelview and saw many of those kids grow into adults and have families of their own. She is survived by her four children: Marva Frazier and husband John of Axtell, Gerald W. Lorfing and wife Kathy of Corpus Christi, Darrell Lorfing of Olivia, and Mindy Hunt and husband Lewis of Port Lavaca. Her brother, Jackson N. Hill of Marquez. Eight (8) grandchildren: Cristi Jungmann, Rebecca Powell, Gerald W. Lorfing, Jr., Steven Lorfing, Lacy Wolfskil, Heath L. Hunt, Rennie Hunt and John W. Hunt, (9) great-grandchildren, step-daughter, Sandra Hackney and several nieces and nephews. She had a special place close to her heart for many friends and loved ones who called her 'mama' and 'grandma'. John Frazier, Lewis Hunt, James Wolfskil, Heath Hunt, Steven Lorfing, and Gerry Lorfing will serve as pallbearers.
