Robert D. (Doug.) Oliver
Born on 09/01/1932 And passed away in 02/08/2017.
Born in his grandfather’s farm in McLennan County, TX. To Bob and Janie Campbell Oliver.
Both proceeded him in death.
Mr. Oliver is survived by his High School Sweet Heart and wife of 64 years Nelda O’Neal Oliver. Four sons, David & wife Carol of Humble, TX. Ronald and wife Ana of Austin TX,
Ray and wife Ashli of Seabrook, TX., Richard and Dee of, Webster, TX. 5 Grandchildren 9 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren & 3 step great grandchildren. One sister, Tressie Shiflet, of Groves, TX. Many friends and relatives in Houston and Central TX area.
He is a product of Waco public Schools. Graduating from Waco Technical high. (Now University High) and a member of Tech’s 1st football team in 1949.
He worked for White Stores for 27 years. Starting as a stock boy in Waco TX, and progressed to District Manager of the Mississippi, Alabama area and later the Houston, Gulf Coast area.
Mr. Oliver completed his working career with Alliance Shippers, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Oliver served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Serving with the 519th Military police and the support group United Nations Command, Military Armistice Commission in Korea.
A longtime member of the Denver Harbor / I-10 East Lions club. Serving every office of his club, and Zone Chairman in Lion Dist. 252.
Also, active in his neighborhood home owner’s Asso. Serving two terms as Treasure, 3 terms as a trustee, on serval committees and active many years in citizen patrol.
Family will receive visitors at San Jacinto Funeral Home for a celebration of life service on Saturday 02/11/2017 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm
