Robert Weldon Hamilton's Obituary
Robert Weldon Hamilton was born June 3, 1931 in Quanah, Texas. He left this life February 18, 2014, at The Hampton at Meadows Place, Stafford, Texas. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Corene "Cody" Hamilton. His is survived by his wife, Katherine Frances Hamilton; son, Robert Reid Hamilton; daughter, Karen Lynn Tackett; step-sons, Glen Alan Coryell and John Edward Coryell; step-daughters, Deborah Gatell and Nancy K. Coffman; 6 grandsons, Wayne Dudley Speaks and wife, Andrea, Charles "Charlie" Edward Speaks and wife, Chelsea, Jesse Lee Speaks, Michael "Mikey" Jacody Speaks, Ryan Charles Coffman and Kevin Douglas Coffman, and 4 great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Elizabeth Speaks, Addison J. Speaks, Codyie Lynn Speaks and Braden Wayne Speaks. Bob was a long time member of Life Tabernacle Church in Houston, Texas, pastored by Rev. James L. Kilgore and Pastor Jim Kilgore. He later went to Truth Tabernacle of Bellaire to help in a start up work pastored by Rev. James L. Waldrep. Bob loved the Lord and he loved the word of God. He enjoyed getting together with the Silver Eagles to fellowship and eat great food. He especially enjoyed all the good desserts. He loved fishing, playing dominoes and 42, playing with his cats, especially "Tiger" who was his favorite. He liked old cars, collecting junk, and going to meet his friends at Telwink grill for breakfast on Saturday mornings. He did not care too much for his nickname "Grumpy Bob" but always smiled real big when someone called him that. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged on September 25th, 1954. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Occupation Medal (Germany). He later worked as a mechanic for the City of Houston police department where he retired after 20 years of service. He loved his family and his grandkids and will be greatly missed.
