Richard Martinez Yanez, born on October 7, 1966, passed away on October 10, 2024, at the age of 58. Born to Prudencio H. Yanez and Margaret Martinez, Richard was raised a beacon of optimism and humor, treated like a son by Irene Garza Yanez. He married the love of his life, Guadalupe Elmis, and together they built a life for their family.
Richard was an ardent fan of the Houston Astros, proudly collecting their hats. His love for food was well-known, even when he wasn’t supposed to indulge. His outgoing and caring personality made him a friend to all, and his persistence and stubbornness were legendary. Richard had an incredible memory, remembering everyone’s birthdays and locations with precision, earning him the moniker ‘human GPS.’
He loved to sing and was always the life of the party, embracing his Tejano culture with pride. Richard enjoyed making prank calls, bringing smiles to those around him. He was incredibly proud of his son and dedicated his life to helping his family and anyone in need, embodying true selflessness.
Richard’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he had a great relationship with God. He is fondly remembered and loved by all his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Guadalupe Elmis Yanez; his son, Richard Yanez, and his wife, Maria Yanez; his siblings, Angelberto Garza, Jose Raul Garza, Mary Helen Smock, and Prudencio Ruben Garza Yanez; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
