Richard Arlin Garland's Obituary
Richard Arlin Garland, of Baytown, Texas passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023, at the age of 92. He was born on January 2, 1931, to Burleigh and Dorothy Garland in Mexia, Texas.
Richard married Barbara Strickler on July 6, 1949, in Houston, Texas. He began his career at Sinclair Refining which later became Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) where he worked for 34 years.
Upon retirement Richard enjoyed antique cars where he participated in several car shows in the area with various cars over the years. Both Richard and his wife Barbara would travel the state enjoying themselves with friends and other car enthusiast. He served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a Chief Petty Officer for over 20 years.
Richard is survived by his wife Barbara Garland of Baytown, Texas, daughters, Connie Cave and David Cave of Kingwood, Texas, Lisa Lingo and Scott Lingo of Deer Park, Texas, his son, Wesley Garland & Catherine Garland of Clear Lake, Texas, sisters, Lou Miller, and Ann Garland, brothers, Tommy Garland and Harry Garland, 6 grandchildren, Levi French, Cameron Lingo, Peyton Lingo, Savannah Cave, Rhett Garland, and Luke Garland. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Burleigh and Dorothy Garland.
