Mrs. Rachel Adalade Reed's Obituary
Rachel Adelade Reed passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the age of 97. Mrs. Reed was born on December 22, 1914 in Wilmer, Texas to the late John Lewis Loyd and Beulah May Atherton, and was named after her great-grandmother, Rachel Adeline (Hunter) Selvidge. She graduated from Wilmer High School and married James Jewel Reed on June 23, 1934. They had a loving marriage for fifty-eight years, until his death in 1992. In 1943, they moved to Jacinto City, and became charter members of Jacinto City United Methodist Church. Rachel is preceeded in death by her three sisters, Louise Turrentine, Eugenia Kinnard, and Maurine Kinnard; three children, John Terry Reed, Mary Margaret Reed, and Margaret Jones, her loving husband, and her parents. She is survived by her brother, John Lewis Loyd of Mount Calm, TX, her three children, James Lewis of Jacinto City, TX, Martha Jean Washek of Huffman, TX, and Joel Dennis of Houston, TX, her dog Rusty, eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Services will be held at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation on Wednesday, July 11 from 5:00-8:00pm, and funeral services on Thursday, July 12 at 2:00pm. Internment will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park.
