Phronsie Ann Johns' Obituary
Phronsie Ann Johns, age 80, of Jacinto City, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the community she cherished. She was born on March 20, 1946, in Beaumont, Texas, to Bill and Earline Masters, who shaped the foundation of her warm, generous spirit.
A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Phronsie lived a life defined by kindness, faith, and unwavering love for the people around her. For more than 20 years, she worked as a Customer Service Agent at Queen Oaks Cleaners, where her gentle nature and genuine care made her a beloved presence to coworkers and customers alike.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, she found joy in fellowship, singing in the choir, and worshiping Jesus among friends who became like family. The church was one of her favorite places—where she laughed, prayed, and built lifelong bonds.
Phronsie’s heart was fullest when she was surrounded by her loved ones. She treasured time with her grandchildren, family, and friends. She had a creative soul and delighted in crafts of all kinds—crocheting, cross‑stitching, and making beautiful things with her hands. She was also known for her love of cooking and baking, especially her favorite dishes: gumbo, creole, fried catfish, and Mexican food. Anyone who knew her also knew how deeply she adored her dachshunds, Shotzie and Cleo, who brought her comfort, companionship, and endless joy.
Phronsie is survived by her daughter Sherry Contreras, and her son Jack Johns and wife Christina. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Motl and husband Larry, Pat Davis, and Debbie Saenz and husband Adolf; and by her brother Jim Shannon and wife Lori. She has four cherished grandchildren: Taylor Contreras, Casey Johns, Christian Contreras, and Hailey Johns.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Taylor Contreras, her mother Earline Masters, and her father Bill Masters.
Phronsie’s life was a testament to love—love for her family, her faith, her friends, and the simple joys that made her days bright. Her warmth, humor, and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
