Paul Henry McClanahan's Obituary
Paul Henry McClanahan, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, and friend, passed away at home on January 23, 2012. Paul was born on October 30, 1926, in Yoakum, Texas, to James and Eulalia McClanahan. After graduating from Yoakum High School, Paul served his country during World War II as a member of the Merchant Marines (1943-1945) and during the Korean war as a sergeant in the United States Army (1950-1952). After his stint in the army, Paul went to work for Diamond Shamrock in Deer Park in 1953. Soon thereafter, he met Blanche Clark, the love of his life, at a company picnic, and they were married on November 7, 1953. Paul retired in 1983, and he and Blanche enjoyed many years of traveling the country in a motor home as members of the Good Sam's Camping Club. Paul was also a faithful member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Jude's Dudes. Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Blanche McClanahan; daughters Paula McClanahan, Jeanne McClanahan, and Sue Moreau and husband Mark; grandchildren Jennifer Leber and husband Karl, Greg McClanahan, Paul Leber, Lance Moreau and wife Sara, and Ryan Moreau and wife Angela; great-grandson Kyler Moreau; brothers G. E. (Bub) McClanahan and wife Diane and John McClanahan and wife Irene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents James and Eulalia McClanahan, brother Merle McClanahan, and sisters Dorothy Bludau and Lucy Hester.
