Patsy Ponder Wilcox's Obituary
Our Mother, Patsy Ponder Wilcox, passed away at the home of her daughter, Cindy in Spring Branch, Texas on March 5th, 2024. Patsy was born on July 31, 1935, to John Henry and Myrtle Marie (Wilburn) Ponder of Channelview. She had 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Patsy married David E. Thomas on October 10, 1952, mere months before she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. David and Patsy had 4 children, John David, Kathy Sue, Cindy Gay and Kristy Ruth. Later in life, she married Coye E. Wilcox, originally of Rusk, Texas until he passed away in 2000. Patsy and Coye move to Point Blank, Texas after they both retired to enjoy life on beautiful Lake Livingston. She loved to fish as well as sit on her back porch and enjoy the scenery with family and friends.
After Coye’s passing, Patsy reconnected with a friend, Joe Keith Wallace of Splendora, Texas, and they married on July 11, 2006. Patsy and Joe Keith were married for 15 years until his passing in 2021. Patsy has been living with her daughter Cindy and son-in law Michael Jevas in Spring Branch ever since.
Patsy was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Ted and Jerry Ponder, sister Polly Ann Ponder Kingston, as well as her son John David Thomas Sr. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses Kathy and Charlie Bundick of Warren, Texas, Cindy and Michael Jevas of Spring Branch, Texas, Kristy and James D. Johnson of Grantsville, Utah and her daughter-in-law Sandra Hodges Thomas of Gulf Breeze, Florida. She leaves a legacy of grandchildren Jodi Cameron, John David Jr., Natasha Martinez, Myra Welch, Jenifer Meadows, Courtney Harsh, Candice Lemond, Brooke Barnhurst, and Stevenson Johnson as well as their families. She is also survived by her remaining sister, Reda Ponder Henson of Channelview, as well as as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family viewing will be held prior to a public Viewing on Wednesday, March 13 at 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 12:00 o’clock at the San Jacinto Funeral Home and graveside service will be held at San Jacinto Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service that will be officiated by her son-in-law James D. Johnson.
