Norris Glenn Lenamond's Obituary
Norris Lenamond, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday, May 12, after a sudden, unexpected accident. Norris is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Lenamond (nee Finley), and his faithful Westie Scottish Highland Terrier, Molly. Norris was the honored father of two children, Darrell Lenamond of Ocala, Florida, and Laurie Lenamond, of Houston, Texas.
Norris was born and raised in Groesbeck, Texas, by his parents Julia Lenamond and A.Z."Dick" Lenamond, both deceased. Norris was the respected brother of Leroy Lenamond, Durwood Lenamond (deceased), and Betty Lou Burke (nee Lenamond). Norris was fiercely proud of his third-generation Texan heritage, and was an avid reader of Texas history.
Norris graduated from the University of Texas-El Paso in 1957, with a degree in Engineering. His primary expertise was in metallurgical engineering and in 1967 he opened his own business, Weld-Met. Weld-Met provided jobs to over 15 persons, supported its local community, and was on the leading edge of scientific technologies that ensured safety in bridge, pipeline, and other critical steel architectural infrastructures. Norris was owner and CEO until 1987, at its closure.
Norris was the celebrated Grandfather and Step-Grandfather ("Pops") to Ashliegh Lenamond, Paige Lenamond, Bryce Perkins, Jacob Lenamond, Matthew Hinton, and Michael Hinton. He was also the Step Great-Grandfather to Evan Hinton.
Norris was a distinguished member of the U.S. Naval Corps of Engineers. Norris' hobbies included market analysis, financial forecasting, economic theory, and Civil War history. He was an advocate of healthy lifestyle choices, and practiced daily rigorous exercise training and strict nutritional habits.
Norris was a notable business community leader, and cherished husband, father, grand father and great grandfather. He was an outstanding citizen and generous man. He will be dearly missed by his surviving family members, which includes cousins, nephews, nieces; sister, brother, and daughter-in laws; and friends, all of which are too many to name here.
