Mr. Nolan La Fleur's Obituary
Mr. Nolan La Fleur, 82, was born on May 9, 1934 to the late Eddie and Irene La Fleur in Kinder, Louisiana and passed away on December 20, 2016 in Houston, Texas.
Nolan attended La Grange High and Mc Nesse State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He lived in Louisiana his entire childhood and moved to Houston, Texas in 1955 when he married his beautiful wife, Winnie Belle at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. After college, Nolan started his career as a steel salesman and he supplied all of the steel that built many of Houston’s bridges and overpasses. Nolan retired in 1993, with having over 30 years in the steel industry. After retirement, Nolan and Winnie loved to travel in their RV to California and Florida.
Nolan was a man of faith and donated for many years to St. Jude and the Alzheimer Foundation. He was generous, kind, funny, loving and faithful. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved watching Clint Eastwood movies and The Johnny Carson Show. Nolan loved listening to Elvis Presley music or 50’s music. After the passing of his wife Winnie, Nolan become friends with Joy and John, Betty, Dorothey, Mona, Frances, Norma and Danny and Edward.
Nolan is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Winnie; daughter Teresa Mitchell and parents: Eddie and Irene La Fleur. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Artiaga and husband George; his grandchildren: Sam Mathewson, McKenna Mathewson, Steven Mitchell and wife Rhiannon and Charles Mitchell; great-grandchildren: Bradley Mathewson, Audrey Shipley and Kira Mitchell; brother: Ernest La Fleur and son in law: David Mitchell.
The family will receive friends at a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm, with a Memorial Service at 11:00 am in the Chapel at San Jacinto Funeral Home.
