Nelda Mae Oliver of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 90 years old.
Born in Corsicana, Texas, on January 28, 1935, to George and Ruby O’Neal, Nelda was the youngest out of sixteen children. From those roots in a large and loving family, she learned the value of faith, resilience, and compassion—virtues that defined her life.
On July 5, 1952, she married the love of her life, Robert Douglas Oliver, in Waco, Texas. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership until Robert’s passing. Together, they built a beautiful life and a growing family filled with devotion and pride.
Nelda dedicated over 20 years of her professional life as a purchasing agent at Stuart & Stevenson, where her work ethic and integrity left a lasting impression.
She is survived by her four sons and their families:
David and Carol Oliver
Ronald and Ana Oliver
Ray Oliver and Holly Woods
Richard Oliver and Dee Giordano
Nelda was the proud grandmother of Zachary, Gregory, Ryan, Shaunda, and Tatum, and the cherished great-grandmother of nine great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Her family was her heart and her joy, and her legacy lives on through each of them.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Douglas Oliver; her parents, George and Ruby O’Neal; and all of her siblings—five brothers and ten sisters—who now welcome her home with open arms.
Nelda will be remembered for her warm heart, her unwavering strength, and the love she gave so freely. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the values she passed down, and the family she held so dear.
