Nelda Test Miller, a cherished homemaker and devoted mother, passed away on June 14, 2024, in Richards, Texas. Born on August 17, 1932, in Freeport, Texas, she lived a remarkable life spanning 91 years.
Nelda was the beloved daughter of Curtis Pate and Lottie Cornelious Bullard. She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Elton Miller, her son Troy Calaway, and her siblings Curtis Pate, Vestal Pate, Charles Pate, Sam Pate, Billie Mullins, and Iva Nell Brown.
She is survived by her loving children: Trish Stafford, Rita Hawkins, and Sabrina Kinney and her husband Mark, as well as her daughter-in-law, Jackie Calaway. Nelda’s legacy extends to her siblings: Robert Pate, Inez Peltier and her husband Tim, Kelsy Jo Steward, Patsy Mahone and her husband Bob, and Rachel McClary.
Nelda adored her grandchildren: Timothy and his wife Marie, Carli and her husband Heath, Brandon and his wife Kim, Larrymey, David, and Sarah. Her great-grandchildren—Mason, Chase, Ian, Delaney, Cameron, Collin, Connor, and Caleb—brought immense joy to her life.
Nelda found solace in her garden, tending to vibrant flowers that mirrored her own spirit. She delighted in cooking and canning, sharing her culinary talents with family and friends. The swimming pool was her sanctuary, where she patiently taught each grandchild to swim, leaving behind a legacy of water-loving adventurers.
Her love for fishing and her adventurous spirit made her an avid deer hunter. But above all, Nelda cherished the bonds she forged with her grandchildren—the laughter, the stories, and the shared moments that will forever echo in their hearts.
Nelda Test Miller’s absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will continue to inspire and warm the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
