Mr. Michael Lynn Woods' Obituary
Michael Lynn Woods, age 53, of Baytown,TX went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 30, 2012. Michael was born September 20, 1958 in Baytown to Ocie Lee (O.L.) Woods, Jr. and Barbara Ann Sheffield Woods. Mike graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1977. He was formerly a hairdresser in Baytown. Because of his love of people and helping them, Mike went on to mortuary school where he graduated from Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston on February 26, 1988.
Mike was a long time member of Memorial Baptist Church of Baytown, especially during his formative years thru his early twenties. He especially loved being active in his church.
Mike had many interests from collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia to his love of animals and plants. He was also a very good cook. He will especially be remembered for his love of seventies music, mainly disco and his knack for always telling the latest joke. Most notable was his deep love for his family. He loved to keep all the family stories alive especially reminiscing about them with his brother Mark.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother Barbara Ann Sheffield Woods; grandparents Ocie Lee Woods, Sr. and Jewell Inez Dickerson Woods, grandparents Ernest Henry "Bud" Sheffield and Eileen Jeanette Berthe Sheffield; Great-Aunt Edna Victoria Berthe Dix; uncle Gayle Woods along with Mike's partner of 21 years, Robert Lunsford. He is survived by his father O. L. Woods, Jr and Alberta Jackson of Tulsa, OK, brothers Mark Lee Woods of Baytown and Matthew Lewis Woods, Sr. and wife Kim of Crosby; niece Ashley Rene Woods and his nephew Matthew Lewis Woods, Jr. Other relatives include his aunt Judy Staner and cousins Deanna, Rett, and Heath Staner; cousins Leaila Wells, Darrian Wilcox and Robert Wells; great-uncle James "Jimmy" Dix; and a host of dear friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 4 PM on Saturday, August 18, 2012 with a Celebration of Life beginning at 6 PM at Crespo-Broadway Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway, Houston,TX.
