Maureen Elaine Crosby's Obituary
Maureen Elaine O'Day Crosby, 68, passed away from us November 27, 2013. She was born October 31, 1945 in San Francisco, California. She was preceded in death by her father James Wardell O'Day, and her brothers John P. O' Day, and James F. O'Day. She is survived by her mother Phyllis W. O'Day, and her brother George M. O'Day. She was a loving and caring Mother to Kathleen Whitman and spouse Arthur Whitman lll, and Daniel W. Ray. She leaves to cherished memories her Grandchildren Arthur Whitman lV, Andrew Whitman, Meghan Whitman, and Ashley Whitman, and Great Grandchildren Aaron, Brad, Alex, Charlie, Sierra, Dillon, Reese, Keegan, Vivienne, and Tyler, and a great many niece and nephews. She was the second child and only daughter of four children born to Phyllis and James W. O'Day. She was a devoted daughter and sister to her Mother and three brothers while growing up and remained that away throughout her life. She grew up in Houston, Texas and remained a lifelong resident.
Although she had many medical problems, which tried to take her away from life early on many occasions, she was able to regain her strength again and again, that allowed her accomplish a great things during her life. Her first job in life was in baby-sitting, which she took great pride in. She continued to be a supporter of people for the rest of her life. She encouraged, and uplifted, and supported many people with their own dreams of a better life. She worked in nursing first as a nurse assistant, then later as a licensed vocational nurse. She went on in school to graduate as an Associate degreed nurse from Alvin College in 1972. As a Registered nurse she continued to guide and support, not only her family, but all other people she came in contact with. She had a wealth of energy, although her physical body could not always keep up with her ambitions. She was always able to dream a new dream in life. She found joy in seeking the adventure of life, and in finding the something new and interesting, encouraged her greatly. She loved the zest for the adventure of planning for something new, and building, and encouraging the visions to be dreamed by others for their futures. She loved being with people, and they loved her back. She had health problems all her life, but she had the adventurous life that she led because of those health problems, not in spite of them. Maureen touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, December 4th, 2013, at 1:00 pm at San Jacinto Memorial Park, 14659 East Freeway, Houston, Texas 77015. Acknowledgement The loss of Maureen Crosby, was initially received with shock and sadness. This time has been made easier by your love, support, prayers, and guidance. With sincere gratitude, we receive your visits, cards, phone calls, and other expressions of sympathy and support. Through these many forms of love, our grief was lightened. Our prayer is that God will bless each of you and that you will continue to pray for our family.
