Matilda K Buchta's Obituary
Matilda Buchta, age 95, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 13, 1930, in Dayton, Texas, to Francis Janik Kolarik and Alfred Kolarik.
Matilda married the love of her life, Emil Buchta, on October 28, 1947, in Eastgate, Texas. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values. A devoted wife and mother, Matilda dedicated herself to raising her children while also working in sales at Sears, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and strong work ethic.
She was an active member of the St. Andrew Women’s Club, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to her community. Matilda enjoyed dancing, sewing, gardening, fishing, baking, and bowling. Her homemade treats and vibrant garden were a source of joy for all who knew her, and she never missed a chance to share a story or a smile.
Matilda is survived by her daughter, Rita Tyler of Liberty, Texas; her sons, Donald Buchta of Dayton, Texas, and Raymond Buchta and wife Tammie Buchta of Crosby, Texas, and Daughter-in-Law Hazel Buchta; her sisters, Mary Ann Thamm of Needville, Texas, and Barbara Ann Meche and husband Ladgi Meche of Cleveland, Texas; and her brother, George Kolarik of Portland, Oregon. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emil Buchta; her son, Ronald Buchta; her parents, Francis Janik Kolarik and Alfred Kolarik; her grandparents, Peter and Marie Janik; her brothers, Raymond Kolarik and Ignas “Ike” Kolarik; her sister, Ellene Kinser; her son-in-law, Michael Tyler; and her daughter-in-law, Barbara Buchta.
Matilda will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
