Mary Sue Rawlings' Obituary
Mary Sue Rawlings, 72, returned to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 9, 2019. Mary was born on Friday, April 11, 1947 in Monahans, Texas. She was the third born of seven children to Otis Leonard Slatton, Jr. and Ruth Elizabeth Bachtel Slatton. She attended Galena Park High School. Mary married Roy Rawlings on November 1 ,1963. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. She began her career where she owner and operator of a dog grooming shop for 47 She retired in 2004. Mary’s enjoyed crafting, painting, stain glass, woodworking and anything that sparkled. She was known as “Krazy Mimi”. Mary’s favorite memories were the times she spent with her four sisters and family. She loved every minute of being with her grandkids – she lovingly called her posse.
She is preceded in death by husband of 48 Roy Rawlings; her parents Otis and Ruth Slatton; and her brother Billy Slatton. Mary is survived by her daughters, Misti Ferguson and Maicie Rawllings; son-in law, Kirby Ferguson, grandchildren, Olivia Ferguson and Luke Ferguson; siblings, Judy Cornelius, Donna Sundstrom, Rosalee Alfred, Vicki Clements, and Otis James Slatton.
Family will receive other family and friends on Tuesday, June 18 at 10:00 am with A Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 am. Pastor Bryan Clements will officiate at San Jacinto Funeral Home Chapel 14659 East Freeway, Houston, Texas 77015. Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. The family wishes to say a special thanks to the staff of Harbor House Hospice for the care and compassion extended during Mary’s final days.
