Ms. Martha Gray Davis' Obituary
Polly entered into her eternal rest on April 7, 2008 at her residence in Baytown Texas, after a long struggle with heart disease. Funeral services for Martha (Polly) Gray Davis, 57, of Baytown, will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 11, 2008 at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, with the Reverend Raymond Van Buskirk officiating the service. Memorials may be made to Faith Community Hospice at 4721 Garth Road, Suite H, Baytown TX, 77521. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home on Thursday, April 10. She was born on April 25, 1950 in Three Rivers, Live Oak County, TX, to Jessy Franklin Gray, Jr. and the former Margery Eleanor Walker. She was a 1969 graduate of Three Rivers High. Once settled in Baytown, she received her Associate's degree in accounting from Lee College. Her love for computers led her to see things most of us could never see or do. She was a faithful Lutheran, a longtime volunteer for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and Internet webmaster for many local and statewide organizations. She is preceded in death by her mother, Margery Walker Gray, father, Jessy Franklin Gray, and sisters Lillian Pauline and Elaine Frances Gray. Grandparents: Clarence E. 'Whitey' and Martha Goe Walker; and the former Texas State Representative from Live Oak County, Jessy F. Gray, Sr., and Pauline Campbell Gray. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Edgar (Eddie) Franklin Davis, and John Davis, aunts and uncles: Margaret Campbell, Marion Walker, Mary Burnett, Marshall Walker, a host of cousins, and a large extended family. Special friends: Sandra J. McMahen, godmother to her sons, and Sandy's family, the godchildren of Polly, Melissa and Alexander Cade McMahen. Honorary pallbearers: Kathy Anderson, Jeanie Herrington, Cindy Heselmeyer, Margaret Cottrill, Katy O'Neal, Donna Mills, Jim Herrington, Lee Heselmeyer, Robb Collette, Charles Anderson, and Cody Herrington.. The family would like to gratefully thank Faith Community Hospice for the tremendous amount of medical and emotional support provided to Polly and her family during the past seven months. The love and support given by Faith Community Hospice fulfilled Polly's last wish to live with dignity and grace, even as she met the welcoming arms of her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, surrounded by her children.
