Mr. Marion Bruno Wachel's Obituary
To celebrate the life of Marion Bruno Wachel we start at the beginning…
Marion Bruno Wachel came into this world on November 24, 1928 in Bremond, Texas. There he was the 3rd of 8 children to bless the lives of parents Peter and Victoria Wachel. After grade school and completing his GED, Marion went on to study accounting at Four C College, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. It was this education in accounting that helped him succeed in his ownership of Exxon Service Station’s.
Marion is an Army Veteran, having served from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War where he served as a Military Police Officer. Marion’s time in the service was something that he always kept dear to his heart.
Every December 23rd was a very important day in Marion’s life, for this was the day he and the love of his life were married, He and Mary Ann Hutyra Wachel were married just shy of 40 years. With a growing family and numerous grandchildren, Marion became PeePaw, and was known by all as so.
PeePaw and his family have been long time residents of Houston, and members of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Galena Park, and held active memberships in both Knights of Columbus and American Legion.
After PeePaw retired in 1980, he focused his time assisting his family with running their service stations, spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, helping his neighbors including driving them to their doctor appointments. Even after he retired his driver’s license and became home bound, he had a new focus, joke telling, his Meals on Wheels delivery persons became his daily joke audience and you better believe he had a joke ready for every delivery.
PeePaw had many important events in his life including marriage, work, and military services, however the most important events focused on the births of his children and grandchildren new additions to the family were signs his legacy was growing and love was being shared.
PeePaw was a lover of fishing, shrimping and playing poker at the annual family Thanksgiving & Christmas gatherings. He would never turn down a trip to the casino where he liked to play the Penny slots. PeePaw was a joke teller and enjoyed making people laugh, but most importantly simply spending time with his family and friends like Tom Gresham, Chuck Stanley, Walt Schaeffer, John Brezina and many others. To say PeePaw enjoyed life would be an understatement, he truly lived his life. While always being honest, giving, humorous, disciplined and a jokester all in one, it we be amiss if we didn’t mention his sweet tooth…a sweet was always welcomed by Marion.
PeePaw is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Victoria Wachel, wife MaryAnn Hutyra Wachel, sons Marion B. Wachel Jr. and James Michael Wachel, Brothers Kie Wachel, Floyd Wachel, Leonard Wachel, Richard Wachel, and William Wachel.
Marion is survived by his children: Janice and Horace Stephens, Johnny and Jeanne Wachel, Mary and Boyd Noble, Christopher and Nikki Wachel, Richard Wachel, Victoria and Scott Dare and Edward Wachel; grandchildren Shenoa Stephens, Shelly and Brad Elledge, Shannon Fox, Jessica Wachel, Taylor Wachel, Wendy Johnson, Levi Noble, Reese Wachel, Cason Wachel, Keifer Bear, Nicholas Biancardi, Emily Dare, Skyler Dare, Sister Alyne Stilley, Brother Roland Wachel, 9 Great Grandchildren, and numerous sisters in law, nieces and nephews along with numerous friends.
At this time the family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff, doctors at Clear Lake Hospital, Home Care Staff, Melanie and Veronica, who cared for PeePaw over the years through his final days. Also thanks go out to the Jacinto City Meals on Wheels drivers Cue Ball, Estella, recipients of his daily jokes, and last but not least thank you to all friends and family for warm wishes and prayers…God Bless You ALL
