Marie Veronica Bubela Magee's Obituary
Our mother, Marie Magee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 92 years young.
Marie was born September 7, 1922 to Henry and Ludmila Bubela of Ellinger, Texas. She attended school in Fayette County, Texas and studied to be a beautician. Marie married John Magee in April 1946 in Baytown, Texas, where they started their family and also opened John’s Beauty Salon. Together, John and Marie owned and operated the salon for over 50 years. Marie will be lovingly remembered for wonderful meals and amazing desserts. She loved to prepare huge meals and have all her family over to enjoy them.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers; as well as, her beloved husband, John Magee and one son, Thomas Magee. Marie is survived by son, John Magee, Jr. and his wife Lauri; son James Magee and his wife Carol; daughter Lynda Taylor and her husband Bruce; daughter Sherri Shwed; son, Michael Magee and his wife Shannon. Marie had eight grandchildren, Melissa Watkins, Amanda Magee, Eric Shwed, Preston Shwed, Austin Magee, Preston Magee and his wife Elyse, Chase Magee and Nathan Magee. Marie also has five Great Grandchildren, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Chason and Charlie. The family would also like to acknowledge Hazel Patterson and family, Dale Shwed, Terry Greenlee, as well as, her many friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in the chapel of San Jacinto Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service immediately following the visitation at San Jacinto Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choosing in Marie’s honor.
