María Carmen Tovar, de 90 años, de Baytown, Texas, falleció pacíficamente el 9 de junio de 2026, rodeada del amor de su familia. Nació el 7 de agosto de 1935, hija de Genaro Guerrero y Belén Gomez, en San Vicente, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, y desde muy joven llevó consigo una profunda devoción por la fe, la familia y el servicio. Se casó con Antonio Tovar el 14 de noviembre de 1953 en San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, y desde ese día compartieron toda una vida de amor, compañía y devoción inquebrantable.
María fue una dedicada ama de casa cuya mayor alegría era cuidar a quienes amaba. Su cocina era el corazón de su hogar, siempre llena del aroma de sus platillos y del sonido de las risas alrededor de la mesa. Atesoraba cada momento compartido con sus hijos y nietos, observándolos disfrutar las comidas que preparaba con tanto cariño. Martina Tovar Guerrero y Maria Elena Tovar Guerrero; y por sus hijos Jose Genaro Tovar de Dallas, Texas, Alfonso Tovar de Channelview, Texas, Jose Antonio Tovar de San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Ruben Tovar de Baytown, Texas, y Javier Tovar de Channelview, Texas. También deja atrás a 15 nietos y 16 bisnietos.
Ella fue precedida en muerte por su esposo, Antonio Tovar Cruz; sus hermanos, Jose Guerrero Gomez y Guadalupe Guerrero Gomez; y su hermana, Maria Guerrero Gomez. Guardarán para siempre los recuerdos que ella creó, las enseñanzas que dejó y el amor que compartió tan generosamente.

Maria Carmen Tovar, 90, of Baytown, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 7, 1935, to Genaro Guerrero and Belen Gomez, in San Vicente, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and from an early age she carried with her a deep devotion to faith, family, and service. She married Antonio Tovar on November 14, 1953, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and from that day forward they shared a lifetime of love, companionship, and unwavering devotion
Maria was a dedicated homemaker whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, always filled with the aroma of her cooking and the sound of laughter around the dinner table. She cherished every moment spent feeding her children and grandchildren, watching them enjoy the meals she lovingly prepared. These gatherings became treasured traditions that her family will hold close forever.
Christmas was her favorite time of year—a season she celebrated with gratitude and joy. Her home would fill with her children returning to honor the birth of Jesus, creating memories that became part of the family’s foundation. Maria also loved traveling with her daughters, sharing adventures, stories, and moments that strengthened their bond.
Above all, Maria lived a life of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering devotion. She was a woman who served her family wholeheartedly, offering comfort, wisdom, and unconditional love.
She is survived by her daughters — all from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato — Maria Guadalupe Tovar Guerrero, Belen Tovar Guerrero, Ma. Martina Tovar Guerrero, and Maria Elena Tovar Guerrero; and by her sons Jose Genaro Tovar of Dallas, Texas, Alfonso Tovar of Channelview, Texas, Jose Antonio Tovar of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Ruben Tovar of Baytown, Texas, and Javier Tovar of Channelview, Texas. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 16 great‑grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Tovar Cruz; her brothers, Jose Guerrero Gomez and Guadalupe Guerrero Gomez; and her sister, Maria Guerrero Gomez. They will forever cherish the memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
