Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez
Maria was born on December 28, 1949, in Pharr, Texas, there she was the 12th of 12 children to bless the lives of her parents Miguel Salazar and Maria Marroquin. On April 27, 1969 in Hidalgo, Maria married the love of her live Juan C. Gonzalez. They would later be blessed with 6 children 8 grandchildren.
Maria an employee and proud member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and she retired she joined the congregation of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Maria was a devout Catholic, she truly enjoyed her life with the church, never missing mass except for times of great illness, and was always participating in all church events.
Family and friends would describe Maria as devoted, caring, cheerful, compassionate and truly motherly to all who knew her. Other than Church and of course time with her family, Maria also enjoyed Crocheting, dancing, (especially to cumbias) and helping others. As we reflect on Maria’s life, we are up lifted by all the precious memories we all have shared in.
Maria is survived by her children, Elizabeth McCarty and husband Joe, Juan Gonzalez and wife Erica, Miguel Gonzalez and wife Elizabeth De La Rosa, Sandra Escalante and husband Osbaldo, Angelica M. Avila and Husband Jahair, Roy Gonzalez and wife Angela. Maria is also survived by her grandchildren Osbaldo Escalante Jr., Angel J. Avila, Alexander Avila, Gilberto Escalante, Ellie M. Escalante, Yasmin A. Gonzalez, Xavier Gonzalez, Isaac Gonzalez, as well as her sisters Consuelo Garcia and Elvira Garcia.
