Margie Cardenas' Obituary
Margie Cardenas (1952-2020) died on Friday, August 14, 2020. A native-born Houstonian, beloved sister of Rita, daughter of Hijinio (Gene) and Lupe Cardenas. She supported and contributed to the community and volunteered her time with The Elissa foundation, Buckner Christian Church KY, Farm and Vine Friendswood and corporate events. Margie’s proudest achievement was her work career. She was a successful Administrative Assistant, most recently retiring from Chevron and CenterPoint Energy. She graduated from Furr High School and attended San Jacinto College.
Margie’s careers lead to a lifetime of friendships that she treasured. Meresa Prather Fincher was her soul sister for over 35 years who she shared many adventures and milestones. Her beloved Prima’s Christie and Mary Alice shared her love for concerts, BBQ cook-off and any chance to be together.
She loved to go to the casino with friends and usually won big on the slots. Always ready to play poker and was known for her ability to make the best dressing from her Mother’s recipe. She leaves behind her many friends; Rita Herrera, Linda Fee, Joan Stahl, Allen Brown, Tricia Parham, Pam Stout, Kathy Wells, Lew Fincher, Kelly Idoux, Chris and Ralph Romain. She will be missed by her cousins, Lucy, Katy, Louis, Margie, Anna, Dina, Connie, Mary Helen, Allison, Amanda, Michael, Tiffany, Raul, Terisa, Victoria, Chelsea, Rita, Carlos, Joe, Mary and many more not listed. She had a strong love of animals, especially her cats Bebe, Itty and Bubba.
Margie will be remembered by her friends as a sparkling and burning light who illumined and guided her friends to lead lives as joy-filled and giving as hers. She showed us joy and laughter and lived her life on her own terms. Her spirit will live on in us, and we will forever be grateful for her presence in our lives.
