Lula Mae Staton's Obituary
Following a lengthy illness, LULA MAE STATON departed this life of 87 years on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 and now resides in her heavenly Father's house with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Lula was born in Bennett, TX on August 28, 1926 and was a resident of St. James House located in Baytown, TX. She frequently attended worship services at Highlands Methodist Church in Highlands, TX.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Minnie Lee Folwell, husband Lowell " Slim" Staton, brother Jimmy Folwell, sister Louise Folwell, son Michael Williams, grandson Rex Brown, Jr., great grandchild Brittany, and niece Sheila Folwell.
Surviving family members are sister Doris and brother-in-law Ralph Rose of Lufkin, son Eddie and daughter-in-law Jean Williams of Houston, son Guy Williams of Katy, daughter-in-law Sherrie Williams of Highlands, daughter Pat and son-in-law Rex Brown of Highlands; grandchildren Deanna Prentiss, Michelle Stiles, Christi Jones, and Mark Brown; seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other family members, and friends. Family Pall-Bearers will be Eddie Williams, Jeff Jones, Dr. Ralph W. Rose, J. P. Folwell, Kyle Prentiss, and Christopher Litt. Honorary Pall-Bearers include Ralph Rose, Rex Brown, John Litt, Eric Folwell, and Cody Prentiss.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to all the medical staff and caregivers attending to Lula's needs during her illness -- St. James House, Kindred Hospital, San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, and, especially, her primary care physician, Dr. Mary Hewitt.
Directors conducting the funeral will be San Jacinto Memorial Park and Funeral Home, and, officiating the service, Pastor Susan Grittman of Highlands Methodist Church.
In lieu of plants or flowers, family and friends can choose to donate funds to the Rex E. Brown, Jr. Memorial Scholarship at Lee College in Baytown, TX.
